Would you buy a man made or Laboratory made diamond ring?

I'm planning our wedding and we're getting ready to pick out our rings. Is there really anything wrong with a man made diamond? OK ok, we have champagne taste with beer money. I just cant see myself spending $1000 of dollars on a smaller ring just because its real.|||I don't see anything wrong with it. They look beautiful and the symbolism is the same. We are planning our own wedding right now on a "beer" budget. I found silver rings that are engraved with Gaelic to honor our celtic heritage. I don't care that they aren't platinum or 24 kt gold. They are beautiful and meaningful. Save the money, get manmade, and use the money saved for something else-a honeymoon? ;) Good Luck and Best Wishes!!|||First of all, I would never buy a diamond, not only because I don't like them but also due to how they are harvested and marketed. But if there were no other gemstones at all on the planet and that the only choice, then yes I would spring for a lab-created diamond.

Scientific studies of them have shown that they have the same exact properties as a natural diamond that is found in the ground, but they don't have flaws and they are less expensive. Those are the only differences, contrary to what the "diamond-purists" will tell you.

It's the thought that counts, not the pricetag.|||Nothing wrong with that at all. My aunt loves big diamonds, but knew her boyfriend couldn't afford a rock the size she wanted. Plus she wanted a marquis cut, which is the most expensive cut out there. She got a 14K gold band with diamonds for the side stones, but got a cubic zirconia for the center stone. I'm sure she would love it if it were a real diamond, but she wanted something big and expensive, so she didn't care if it was "real".|||My fiance bought a lab made diamond because I specifically asked for it. Like you, I can't fathom spending thousands for a ring. For me a couple hundred seems fair. You pretty much can't buy anything remotely reasonable for only a couple hundred if you're going with real diamonds. The ring I have is a little over one carat and it cost us less than $400. That, to me, is amazing. And it's not like it's a piece of junk. It sparkles and shimmers like I never suspected it would and I've had many family members and friends compliment me on it. My older sister even took one look at it and went, "Holy cow! Did he sell his car to get you that?" Which to me was hilarious (not only because his car is a piece of junk and not worth much haha) but because she couldn't tell the difference.

The synthetic diamonds typically are close to diamonds though not exact. They'll sparkle and shimmer, come in the same cuts and get pretty close to all the variables of what a real diamond is like. But (as somebody already mentioned) they're free of flaws because they are man made. So if you want something that looks genuine without costing thousands I'd spring for a synthetic diamond. Besides, nobody will honestly know it's not real unless they're a jeweler and know what to look for or take one of those fake diamond detecting devices to it.|||If it is what you really want, then go for it. Just get a quality fake that is set into real gold so it doesn't turn your finger green in a few months.

Personally, I opted for a real gemstone - aquamarine - instead of a diamond and my fiance %26amp; I are both thrilled with it.|||It's the same thing. I could care less if someone created mine or it was dug out of the ground. I say certainly get the lab diamond if you're comfortable with it!|||The ring isn't what signifies your marriage... get what you can afford, and what you like...who cares if its lab made...|||Yup, I sure would. They sparkle just the same as diamonds made from the Earth.|||You should only get what you can afford *without* incurring debt.
