When purchasing a diamond, what is the best type of color to purchase?

On the diamond color scale of D-Z which is the best to purchase?|||the best diamonds to purchase are near the D colour, which is as colourless as it gets, the futher you go down the alphabet the yellower they become, Z is light yellow, however a very intense yellow diamond is much rarer than normal diamonds and can be very expensive, natural untreated coloured diamonds are called " fancies" and they are very rare and expensive, they are the best type of diamond to purchase because they are a great investment stone, but there is a great downfall, their price tags seem to be sky high and way out of everyone's reach and you will have to be willing to pay tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands or even millions for that matter to get one depending on its quality, but you can get treated or enhanced fancy diamonds which are much more affordable and available to the public, with an average carat stone costing a few hundred pounds or thousands if they are lucky. synthetic coloured diamonds are even cheaper. red is the rarest of the natural fancy diamonds and sell for millions at just a carat, blue, purple and green are next in terms of expense and rarity, then orange yellow ect.. then at the bottom of terms of rarity and expense are the brown, light brown/yellow and black diamonds. Grade D flawless and colourless is also very rare and can be just as expensive as a fancy fancy yellow diamond,, but they are hard to find. most diamonds on the market are of grade J and lower with a a light brown/yellow tinge, so finding a grade D flawless will be almost impossible unless you go to a a specialist jewellers, and the diamond comes with a certificate of authenticity.

when buying a diamond, look out for....

the carat, colour, clarity and the cut.|||"Colorless" and near-colorless (D-H, roughly) have historically been most popular and desirable especially for engagement and wedding rings, so if that's what you're looking for D-H color is best. It's a matter of what you can afford in combination with the other 3 Cs.

Yellow or light brown diamonds (N-Z) have recently become popular and may be a good bet if you are purchasing a diamond to design a trendy piece of jewelry.|||Go for colorless diamonds, anything between D-F should be fine.
