I have a necklace from my grandmother with one 4ct diamond and five 1ct diamonds set in a 24 karat gold chain. Im not planning on selling it but i was just wondering how much would it be worth?|||it would be worth at least ten thousand dollars!|||Are you sure it's a 24 kt gold chain? I have seen a lot of gold and the highest karat I have ever seen in jewelry is 22kt. 24 kt is really really soft- even if it survived the jeweler's workmanship, it would not last 3 generations. Maybe it is 24kt plated?
As to the diamonds, well those are huge. The value of the necklace, though completely depends on the quality of the diamonds. If they have good clarity, cut and color, it could be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Usually, when pieces of jewelry like that are passed down to the family, there are plenty of documents, insurance papers etc. Most likely, if the piece was worth a fortune, someone would have told you.
So I suggest that, if you don't want to sell it, there is no point in knowing the value - you can just use your imagination!
There is more info on this site about the range in value of diamonds.|||you first need to ascertain the clarity and colour grade of the diamond and then go here and calculate the price.
