What happens to diamond and gold shavings?

When a Diamond and a piece of gold is being cut in order to make it marketable, what happens to the left over pieces?|||Gold shavings are sent to a refiner and smelted again to form more gold bullion.





Depending on the size of the diamond chips they are sold to industrial manufacturers to be made into drills, saws, sanding and polishing discs.
