My Grandfather left me a ring with a red stone, i was told it is a ruby but am unsure, set on a 14k gold ring. Inside the ring it has 14k followed by a K inside a diamond engraved on the band, I know what the 14k means, but what does the K inside the diamond engraving mean?|||Hi
I think This usually means Palladium which is a white metal with similar properties to Platinum.
thank you|||Depending on how old the ring is, the K stamped on the shank (inside) of the ring could be the hallmark of the jeweler that made the ring. Certain companies put a stamp on the ring to identify the original jeweler that made the ring. Some companies do that for engagement rings so when they need a wedding band made, it can go to the original artist so they can match it perfectly.|||try this link ...they teach you about it....http://diamonddistrict.tv/education.php
