Are there any Diamond Back rattlesnake look alikes around central Alabama and what would they be?
My wife said she saw a Diamond Back today and it struck at her. She said it was lying on the side of the small road she was walking on. She made no movements toward it after she saw it but it struck when she began to back away.|||Here's the thing... if you ~know~ what a diamondback looks like, there's no mistaking anything else for one, but if you ~don't know~ what one looks like, I've seen people mistakenly identify several species as "diamondbacks"... bullsnakes (including pine snakes and gopher snakes) red rat snakes, grey rat snakes, juvenile black racers, etc... basically anything with blotches down it's back can be a "diamondback" to people who have never seen one...
