Is it safe to use alcohol to clean a diamond?

i was told that if you use rubbing alcohol to clean a diamond ring it will make it really shiny. but im paranoid that it may cause damage in the long run.|||You won't hurt the diamond at all. The carbon-carbon bonds that make a diamond a diamond are far stronger than any interactions with rubbing alcohol. Diamonds are forever, baby.|||fill up the sink with warm water, swish it around, take 1 drop of Dawn dish liquid and rub it on the ring, then rinse. to dry, use a lint free cloth. then take a kleenex with water %26amp; a rubbing alchohol on it and dab it over the diamonds..it gives it that extra sparkle.

|||Alcohol will not harm diamonds or gold or platinum or anything else on a ring.|||its OK|||Best is to use:

Water 50%

Ammonia 30%

windex 10%

Alcohol 10%

mix in container and soak @ 1 hr, then brush with soft tooth brush. Do not use on silver of soft gems, ok for gold %26amp; platinum

I use it @ 1x a week|||I take tooth paste , use an old tooth bush rubs over DIAMONDS,and wash with warm water it does look brand new even cubic ziconia. also gold chains and bracellet.|||No. Never use any such strong chemical based things to clean diamonds. If the ring is closed type (I mean Closed at the back portion) it can not be cleaned effectively. If it is open one you can give it to any Jewelery shop and they will do it and give you immediately. If you do not want to believe them, the best way to clean is take a bit of toothpaste which you use and slightly bush the ring with your old toothbrush. and rinse properly and wipe by soft cloth. It will be enough and your diamond will sparkle. We do this for our diamond ornaments as suggested by th jeweler.

Alcohal may be harmful and it is not a cleaning agent-.|||We either use a jewelry cleaner purchased at stores OR we simply mix ammonia and water. Soak the diamond and mounting for a short time, rinse well and dry with a soft cloth.|||Good on you I wouldn't use alcohol as well. I use a old fashion way for m all of my jewelry and this is it, line a dish or bowl with alfoil put a tea spoon of Bi-Carb Sodaon the bottom and poor boiling water on to your jewelry and let it stand in the water for a while . Your jewelry will be like new. I wouldn't do it any other way
