On average, is an I2 diamond clear enough to put into an engagement ring?

The color quality is H, and the cut is good. I want to get a good sized diamond but if i am going for a big diamond i can't afford any better quality than that. I don't want to get it here then have it look like a piece of sand or something. Thanks for any input!|||Generally I would not recommend I clarity diamonds as an I2 clarity diamond is near the very bottom as far as clarity goes, and durability of the diamond could be an issue. ( I2 and I3 clarity diamonds may have issues with the possibility of breaking due to feathers-cracks in the diamond ) However, if the diamond is not too bad it might be possible to have the diamond clarity enhanced ( fracture filled ) if the primary flaws are feathers and not dark crystals, which would need laser drilling to remove the inclusions.

Fracture filling is a process in which a diamond has the feathers in the diamond filled with a resin substance that has the same refractive index as diamond. It improves the look of the diamond tremendously. There are several companies, including Yehuda, that will do fracture filling. Not too long ago I sent out an I2 clarity, 1.50 carat diamond out for a client to have fracture filled and it was absolutely beautiful after enhancing, and wasn't expensive to have done.

If you have not yet decided on a diamond, you might want to check out Yehuda diamonds. Yehuda is a manufacturer of clarity enhanced diamonds that I have recommended to people who want a lot of bang for the buck. You can check them out here... http://www.yehuda.com/ and some photos of clarity enhanced diamonds before and after enhancing here... http://www.yehuda.com/process.asp

And although Yehuda guarantees their diamonds you want to be aware to tell any jeweler working on your ring that the diamond is clarity enhanced to keep them from possibly damaging the diamond.|||Remember "less is more" and she will love no matter the size. My ring wasn't huge but I wouldn't trade it for a bigger one. If it's coming from the heart it's special and it sounds as if you really put some thought into getting her something really beautiful. Also remember "quality not quantity." That help?|||I looked at one a while back that was an I2 but it was an F in color and it looked fine until I used a 10x loupe on it, then it looked like crap.

I2 stones can look very nice, and be a pretty good value, but it still comes down to 'you get what you pay for'.|||No stay away from that. Loads of inclusions. Go down in carat weight and get something that is eye clean. Size is not as important as CUT - http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds_info/鈥?/a>

Good Luck!
