How do you tell the difference between a diamond and zirconium dioxide, or diamonique?

How do you know if what you buy is real or not? What makes the diamond more expensive and not the diamonique ?|||As mentioned above, the fake diamond will appear flawless (although, you may see tiny pinpoints with a high-powered magnifier). The reason for the price of any gemstone is rarity. Zirconium is NOT rare. Gem-quality diamonds are very rare. Out of a metric ton of ore, there might be 30 points of diamond (0.30 carat), and that's at a great mine. The actual average is much lower. Of that, 1% would be jewelry quality. Of THAT, 1% is bigger than a chip. Diamonds are expensive to mine, market, cut, and distribute. All of these factors are considered when the price tag is written. The reason you buy the diamond is because you buy it today, and it will belong to your great-great-great-great grandchildren. The zirconium will be destroyed within 30 years.|||You look at it under a magnifying glass and within 2 seconds you will know immediately.

The cubic will be flawless. You look and see nothing but light, and refraction angles and surfaces.

The real thing will have little spots, flakes, little imperfections, and possibly major cleavage flaws inside the stone.|||steal it frm 2 different people and see who reacts the most....the one with the most drama will be the diamond :P|||i dont know.
